WARNING: This tutorial features images from Windows 8 and may not be compatable with earlier or later versions of Windows.

If you are looking to remove your password or just update it for security reasons this short tutorial will show you how to do exactly that.

First you will need to open your start menu. Many keyboards will have the "Start Menu" key inbetween the "CTRL" and "ALT" keys.

If you can not find it on the keyboard it is at the bottom left fo your computer screen like pictured below

In your start menu look to the top right and you will see a search button (It looks like a magnifying glass) Click it.

In the search bar type in "PC Settings". Click on the first search found that says "PC Settings".

This should have brought you into a new screen with more personalization options. On the left is all of the tabs you can access. Click on "Accounts".

Now you should see the accounts on your local computer along with other options like changing your profile picture.

To continue click on "Sign-in options". Right underneath where it says "Password" you should see a gray button/bar that says "Change". Click "Change".

An overlay will appear on your screen that will have you confirm your current password. This is a saftey feature to prevent anyone else from changing your password. Go ahead and type in your password that you use to login.

After entering your current password you should see a screen that will ask you to change your password. To change your password just type in the new password you desire and then retype to confirm. You can add a hint as well just incase you forget it over the weekend!

But let's say you want to remove the password completely? Well that is even easier. Do not enter anything in the area asking for a new password. Just click the "Next" button at the bottom of the screen.

If you chose to change your password or if you chose to not have a password and left the fields blank you need to confirm the process. Click on "Finish" and you are good to go!

The next time you log in you will need to enter your new password or if you opted out of having a password you can breeze right in.
